Crudeness of Craft, Winter 2023

Please enjoy my new home décor. Do not look too closely although my embellishments are stunning my craft is not. I hope you enjoy my oozing beads and constricting thread. These decorations provide beauty to my work however when looking closely you will realize you too can produce this for yourself. What do you need? Plaster, Tin Cans, and Rebar. I guess my skill in welding is above the common person. This embellishes my character now I get to tell everyone “I can weld I bet you can’t”. But now that I have embellished my character the pressure to excel constricts my being just as the thread moves up the rebar. The beads of anxiety move through my body as I compare myself to others. But once I take a step back and view the lamp as what it is I am amazed by the sturdy structure and elegant detail I have created. This brings me to peace again and the beads become adornments and the thread adds interest. As do the skills I collect and the unrest I experience do to my being.
